Milestones
1981
Founded by Volkmar Wywiol, Stern-Wywiol Gruppe was formed after the acquisition of Sternchemie GmbH and Berg+Schmidt GmbH.
1996
Opening of SternMaid GmbH & Co. KG plant in Wittenburg, Germany, to manufacture functional and nutritional food ingredients for the Stern-Wywiol Gruppe.
2001
Mühlenchemie Asia Pte Ltd is incorporated in Singapore to better support existing customers in the flour milling industry in Southeast Asia.
2006
Mühlenchemie Asia Pte Ltd begins to provide technical customer service and regional R&D resources for flour and baking applications.
2007
Mühlenchemie Asia Pte Ltd is renamed Stern Ingredients Asia-Pacific Pte Ltd to reflect the redefined mission of the company, and to provide a wider portfolio of food ingredients.
2008
Incorporation of Stern Ingredients India in Mumbai to develop and produce flour improvers and enzyme systems in India.
2009
Incorporation of Stern Ingredients (Suzhou) Co., Ltd to develop and produce flour improvers and enzyme systems in China.
2017
Launch of SternMaid Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd in Nusajaya, Malaysia for the production of flour improvers, baking ingredients and vitamin premixes.
2018
Sales of the overall Stern-Wywiol Gruppe exceed the half-billion-euro mark for the first time. The group now comprises 12 specialist brands, 16 international affiliates, and over 1,400 employees worldwide.
2020
Initiated 'World Flour Day' to recognise the importance of flour and pay tribute to the heroes working behind the scenes.
